Let Yourself Shed
Fall Skincare, Fresh Starts, and Learning to Do Less
Hi there!
Before we share what our last episode is all about, please do us, Laura and Brandy, a big favor. Please subscribe to our YouTube and/or Apple Podcast stations. It will mean the world to us seeing your name on our subscribers list. Thank you so much for doing so!
There’s something about fall that makes us take a beat.
Maybe it’s the cooler weather, the cozy sweaters, or the Starbucks marketing machine convincing us it’s time for change—but for aestheticians, this season is the perfect invitation to reflect, refresh, and maybe even reimagine what your work-life balance could look like.
In our latest episode of Pretty Smart Too, Brandy shared some big news: she just moved her business into a new wellness-focused community in North Little Rock, The Resort at Rockwater, complete with a river view, marketing team, and an actual maintenance staff (yes, seriously). After years of doing it all, she’s now the Wellness Director—building her dream spa and building in a little bit of much needed rest.
Meanwhile, Laura’s embracing the solo suite life in Pasadena. Two or three clients a day? That’s the sweet spot. No boss and no staff to manage, no chaos—just intention, expertise, and time to breathe.
And guess what? Both are thriving.
Fall Treatments That Hit Different
Whether you’re running a full spa or flying solo, the change in season is a smart time to offer something new—without discounting your value.
🍁 Body Scrubs & Back Facials – Clients want to “scrub off summer,” so now’s the time to bring back those overlooked services. Don’t have pumpkin spice everything? No problem. Use what’s already in your backbar cabinet. Revisit body treatments, peels, and hydrating treatments.
✨ Hydration + Exfoliation Pairings – Laura’s leaning into SkinScript’s pumpkin enzyme and layering it with microdermabrasion. It’s fall-friendly and results-driven.
💆♀️ HydraFacial MD Keravive Scalp Treatments – Especially if you’re in a salon setting, scalp care is having a moment. Laura’s bundling hers with a special fall-themed vibe for her neighbors hair salon clients.
The big takeaway? Specials don’t have to be discounts. They just need to be special. Clients want results—and creativity—not necessarily a cheaper price tag.
Business Real Talk
One of the themes that kept popping up? Letting go.
Letting go of over-scheduling.
Letting go of the idea that hustle is the only path.
Letting go of services that drain you—or marketing that doesn’t work.
Laura tried Nextdoor ads. 900 clicks. Zero bookings. (Womp womp.)
But Facebook mom groups? Goldmine. Free. Authentic. Targeted.
Brandy’s new setup has her hosting pop-ups with yoga and sound baths—bringing in other wellness pros to grow her spa without doing it all herself.
This fall, maybe that’s your cue too. Look around. What can you let go of? What’s already working? What’s in your metaphorical (or literal) cabinet that you forgot you had?
Let Yourself Shed
Skincare is renewal.
Business is reinvention.
And fall? It’s your reminder that change doesn’t mean loss—it means growth.
So go ahead. Let go of the old. Get creative. Raise your prices. Burn the pumpkin candle. And maybe—just maybe—do a little less, and love your business a little more.
See you in the treatment room,
Laura & Brandy 💆♀️💕
